Buttermilk French Toast (for 2)

  • 2 large eggs
  • ½ cup(s) buttermilk
  • 1/8 teaspoon(s) cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoon(s) granulated sugar
  • ½ loaf unsliced French bread or 4 slices thick-sliced bread
  • butter or vegetable oil

Buttermilk French Toast (for 2) Directions

Add eggs, buttermilk, cinnamon, salt and sugar to a medium bowl. Whisk until thoroughly combined.

Cut bread into ¾ inch thick slices. 

Soak each slice and then place on a baking sheet. Cover and refrigerate for 1 hour. Remove from refrigerator.

Heat a tablespoon of butter or vegetable oil in a large frypan over medium heat. Add soaked bread and cover with lid. Cook both sides until golden brown. 

Serve with fresh berries and maple syrup.

Recipe notes

Don't try to cook this toast too quickly! The centre of the bread needs to be thoroughly heated.
