Ingredients

For 1 Dozen(s)

Dough

  • 1 cup(s) warm milk (110°F/45°C)
  • 2 eggs, room temperature
  • 1/3 cup(s) margarine, melted
  • 4½ cup(s) bread flour (20oz/574g)
  • 1 teaspoon(s) salt
  • ½ cup(s) granulated sugar
  • 2½ teaspoon(s) bread machine yeast

Filling

  • 1/3 cup(s) softened butter
  • 1 cup(s) brown sugar
  • 2½ tablespoon(s) ground cinnamon

Topping

  • 3oz/85g of cream cheese, softened (not quite half a brick)
  • ¼ cup(s) butter, softened
  • 1½ cup(s) powdered (confectioners) sugar
  • ½ teaspoon(s) vanilla extract
  • 1/8 teaspoon(s) salt

Cinnabon Knock-offs! Directions

Place dough ingredients in breadmaker bread pan in order listed. Choose dough and 2 lb. setting. Press start. When cycle is completed, remove dough from breadmaker and place it on a lightly floured surface. Cover dough and let it rest for 10 minutes.

Combine brown sugar and cinnamon. Using a rolling pin, roll dough into 16x21 rectangle. Also work with fingers if necessary.

Spread butter evenly on dough using a tablespoon or spatula. Spread cinnamon mixture evenly onto dough, to within 1/2" of dough edge.

Working from the shorter 16" end, roll-up dough into a log, and cut into 12 pieces.

Place in a lightly greased 9x13" baking pan.           

 

Cover dough with a towel and place in a plastic bag. Allow bough to rise until about double in size, about 1 to 1½ hours.

cinnabon cookedPlace in 400°F oven and bake for 15 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from oven and let stand for 20 minutes.

 

Meanwhile, prepare the icing: with an electric hand mixer, blend together cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, vanilla and salt. Spread on cooled rolls.
